Little Antioch: Resilience by Pastor Geordie Denholm

As we turn towards the next generation of ministry for Christ Memorial and the future of Loved+Sent, we are taking a look at the ancient city of Antioch and asking the questions: What does the first century church in Antioch have to say to us today? In that same spirit, could we be a Little Antioch?

Today we consider the value of Resilience. We have a message that the world often doesn’t care about, or  outright despises. The Christians of Antioch faced persecution and scorn, yet they still preached the Gospel and even to those vastly different than themselves. When the storms raged, they found footing on the firm foundation of Jesus Christ.

Now those who were scattered because of the persecution that arose over Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except Jews.  But there were some of them, men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who on coming to Antioch spoke to the Hellenists also, preaching the Lord Jesus.” Acts 11:19-20
