The season of Christmas is twelve days long, from Christmas Day up to Epiphany, January 6,  hence the song “The Twelve Days of Christmas.”  White is the color for the Christmas season, symbolizing the purity of the Word, who became a human being and dwelled among us in the person of Jesus.  Our Christmas lights continue to shine because Jesus is “the light [that] shines in the darkness.”
