The Body Week 5
July 6/7
Freedom by Pastor Paul Dickerson
The apostle Paul speaks in a mysterious way when he describes the church. He calls the church, “the body.” A body has parts, each of which are important and meant to work together for the good of one another. The body is a picture of how our new life in Christ works.
This summer, we explore Paul’s first letter to the Corinthian church, which was filled with division, rivalry, and scandal. Today we look at the tension between freedom in Christ and the responsibilities we have to one another. How should we think of “rights” in the body of Christ?
Today we also observe Independence Day and give thanks to God for the freedoms we enjoy and the land in which we live.
