Control
March 9/10
Control by Pastor Nathan Schultz
“The Law shows us our Sin and the Gospel shows us our Savior”. As Lutherans, we are familiar with the Law/Gospel distinction. Far from being an antiquated doctrine, Law and Gospel convey a profound truth about God and life: We are worse than we thought, and God is greater than we imagined.
Today we consider the Law as control. The law acts as a control to tell us how to live. But when confronted, we dislike this control and seek to control the law for ourselves. In this season of Lent, we allow the law to do its work and release control of our lives.
