Be Small by Pastor Jeff Cloeter
The ministry of Jesus was strange by the standards of the world around Him. He did and said what no one else was doing and saying. As His people, Christians are strange, in the best sense of that word. We explore the distinct nature of God’s kingdom in the Gospel of Matthew and how this strange Jesus makes us strange people today. Today we contrast the strange nature of humility in a world of self-promotion.
We also recognize All Saints Day. The term “saint” means “holy one,” and describes all who are made holy by the blood of Jesus Christ. In a world of self-promotion, we consider the humble call of Jesus who said, “Everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.” (Lk. 14:11).
Matthew 18:1-6
