REopening the Bible: Covenant by Pastor Paul Dickerson
Genesis 12:1-9; 15:1-6; 17:1-9
Our society has been in a rush to reopen. Businesses, schools, travel, sports, and workplaces. Before we rush back to “normal,” we must ask, “Have we learned anything from the last year? Will we live any differently than before? Where does God fit in the traffic of our busy lives?”
Now is the time to reopen God’s word, to return to the foundations of our faith. We return to six key biblical events that have always defined God’s people. These six dramatic moments reveal the high points of God’s activity among his people. We reopen each story and ask three questions:
Who is God?
Who are we?
How do we respond faithfully?
Today we focus on God’s covenant with Abraham and see that God is the great promise-maker who chooses a people to be his own. As God’s chosen people, we respond with love, trust, and obedience so that his blessings might flow from us to others.
