Yield by Pastor Jeff Cloeter

The yield sign means to slow down and give way to someone else.  We let an oncoming car go first.  Our theme for today is “yield” and it is expressed in our readings.  The boy Samuel replies to God’s call in the night, “Here I am.”  St. Paul says, “You are not your own.”  Jesus says, “Follow me.”  How hard it is to give up control and set aside my preference.  Yet “yielding” is an act of faith that is at the heart of the Christian life.  How do we yield?
