Membership

We have a high regard for membership. A member is an active, vital, and indispensable part of the whole “body” that is the church. At Christ Memorial, “membership” is really about ownership. Members commit to following Jesus within the leadership of our community, embracing the vision of the church, and leveraging all that God has given them to serve the church and others.

  • Fight for the faith (I Tim. 6:12; II Tim. 2:14-16)
  • Strive for unity of faith (Eph. 4:1-6)
  • Bear with one another and build each other up (I Cor. 12:12-26)
  • Do the mission together (Acts 1:8)

The process of being a member includes: baptism (if not previously baptized), a spiritual formation class (Pathway), a covenant, and a public declaration before the community. Interested in membership, or have questions? Contact our pastor, Paul Dickerson.

Governance

Our congregation is governed by its voting members, constitution and bylaws.  Periodically, these documents are reviewed and revised.  We are currently engaging in a governance review process and below are links to FAQs and the current and proposed governing documents.

As discussed at the Voters’ Assembly meeting on May 8th, church council has been working to update Christ Memorial’s governing documents.  The proposed changes were reviewed at several town hall meetings over the summer.  The only change to the documents provided in May, coming from the town hall meetings was to clarify language in the Church Council Policy Manual to better reflect the responsibilities that church staff have regarding administrative duties that have been delegated to them from church council.  The Voters’ Assembly will be asked to approve the proposed constitution, bylaws and Christian conduct statement, which are available for your review in advance, using the links below.  Additionally, the Voters’ Assembly will be asked to revise the terms of the current church council members, adding an additional one year to their remaining eligibility to serve on council.  This will enable the current council members, who have been instrumental in the development of the revised governing documents, to continue to serve for at least one more year under the revised governing documents.  In the interim, if you have any questions, please reach out to Jim Jaacks, church president, whose contact information is available on the Link.
